About Us

At Hingham Youth Soccer (HYS), our mission is to build a vibrant, inclusive, and exciting soccer community right here in Hingham. We are dedicated to instilling a lifelong love for the sport by fostering skill development, fitness, teamwork, and fair play in every player.

From toddlers taking their first touches on the ball to experienced high school players competing on travel teams, HYS offers structured opportunities for every child to play, grow, and thrive.

Fair Play & Playing Time

Soccer is learned on the field, not the bench. HYS expects all coaches to provide every player in attendance with at least 50% playing time during every game. Our goal is balanced development across the entire roster.

Good Sportsmanship

Respect is at the core of HYS. Players, coaches, parents, and spectators are expected to represent Hingham with positive energy and good sportsmanship. We maintain zero tolerance for dangerous play, verbal abuse, or hostility toward referees, opponents, or teammates.

Open Communication

We operate best when parents and coaches communicate directly and respectfully.

1. Step 1: If you have questions or concerns regarding team management, please speak directly with your child's coach on an individual basis outside of game action.
2. Step 2: If you feel a concern remains unresolved, reach out to your Division Director (an HYS Board officer), who is always ready to assist.

Divisions & Seasons

We structure our programs to ensure age-appropriate competition, skill development, and maximum fun.

• In-Town Divisions (K – 4th Grade): Players are grouped primarily by grade level through 4th Grade (Senior Division), keeping friends playing together in a supportive community atmosphere.
• Travel Divisions (U10 – U19): Travel rosters follow strict league birthdate guidelines. (Note: While players cannot play "down" an age group if they exceed birthdate deadlines, grade-based play remains available in our in-town divisions).
• Seasonal Schedule: Most divisions compete in both fall and spring seasons. High school travel divisions (U16, U18, U19) play exclusively in the spring season.
